The
DFHS Class of 1964 will hold their Fortieth Reunion over the weekend
of October 1 thru 3, 2004. A full slate of activities is being planned.
We
begin with a Friday Night home football game for Coach Skip Violante's
Eagles under the lights at Gould Park to be followed by informal impromptu
gatherings of our classmates at various hospitable establishments in
our home town.
On
Saturday Morning, we expect to have a tour of our Alma Mater, by which
date the huge addition under construction on the North Field should
be completed. Following the tour, we plan to have a brief reception
at the school to greet available former faculty members as well as representatives
of the current school administration. It is at this time, that we plan
to present to the school a suitable memorial for the five members of
our class, Gene Greenblath, Robert Wilson, Tim Moynihan, Eric Zemnick
and Kai Winding, who are no longer physically with us, but who will
always be remembered. Please note: The memorial will be formally presented
at that time, but we will retain the actual possession of it thru reunion
weekend so that all classmates attending the reunion can see it, after
which it will be returned to DFHS for permanent display.
Saturday
Afternoon activities, still in the initial planning stage, may include
among other things: An early afternoon softball game/light picnic on
the school grounds, an indoor pool party at our expected reunion headquarters,
the Tarrytown Marriott, a mile or so East of Broadway on Route 119 and
whatever else our Executive Committee Member and Saturday Afternoon
Activities Sub-Committee Chair, Jennifer Evans, will have in store for
us.
For
Saturday Night, the focal point of our reunion, your Reunion Executive
Committee has reserved Rudy's Beau Rivage, formerly the Villa Arturo/Dixie
Inn, for our gala dinner dance. Some very special entertainment will
be presented along with music of the 60's and some other appropriate
decades played by a DJ (they don't spin records anymore, in fact, there
are no records anymore) for your listening and dancing pleasure. It
is rumored that some famous medical practitioners, last seen almost
39 years ago, will again be providing various oratorical and audiological
services for two of our classmates, one of whom just happens to be a
member of our three-person Reunion Executive Committee, better known
to all of us as Class President-For-Life.
Sunday
Morning, we will have a farewell brunch where we will begin planning
our Eightieth Reunion, tentatively set for June 2044, as we keep to
the geometrical progression in years we have so far established: 10,
20, 40, etc. Just kidding, but we will have the brunch. It's been a
long time since graduation, and it will be wonderful to see old friends
and catch up on four decades of news. So if you want to attend the best
reunion in the history of Dobbs Ferry High School, please let us know
how to reach you. And keep a watch here for occasional Classnotes, as
well as your e-mail in-box, filling you in on whatever happened to...
